Chapter 8 - A New Foundation

Six months later, the sun rose over a different kind of morning in the Winchester household.
The sprawling, oppressive mansion where Margot had ruled with an iron fist and a fake smile had been sold. In its place, Arthur and Clara had moved into a modest, sunlit craftsman home closer to the university district. There were no expensive chandeliers, no intimidating dining room tables with hidden traps, and no walking on eggshells.
Clara stood on the front porch, wearing comfortable clothes and holding a cup of steaming coffee. She looked down at her right leg. A faint, silvery scar marked her lower back, a permanent reminder of the night her life had fractured—and then rebuilt itself stronger.
Arthur stepped out onto the porch, handing her a set of keys with a warm, genuine smile.
“Your tuition transfer cleared,” Arthur said softly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Legally this time. Fully yours, straight from your mother’s untouched legacy account.”

Clara smiled back, taking the keys. She didn't feel broken anymore. She felt unbreakable.
“Thanks, Dad,” she said, looking out at the open road ahead. “Let’s build something real this time.”
