Chapter 3 - The Gathering StormThe war room in Marcus Sterling’s Houston office smelled of old leather, expensive espresso, and victory. Spread across the massive oak conference table were financial statements, offshore account trails, and corporate memos that painted a devastating picture of Dominic Vance’s financial house of cards.

"Look at this, Audrey," Marcus said, pointing a gold-plated pen at a highlighted ledger line. "Dominic thought he was clever. He funneled nearly forty million dollars of the Brooks Trust into shell companies registered under Natalie Cross’s name and her fictitious medical foundation."
I sat across from him, wearing a sharp white blazer that contrasted sharply with the dark bruise still fading on my cheekbone. I looked at the numbers, feeling not a shred of pity, only a cold, clinical satisfaction.
"He thought I was a naive trophy wife who would never look past the household budget," I said quietly, spinning my new platinum ring—the one I had bought for myself to replace the symbol of my captivity. "He forgot that before I met him, I graduated top of my class with a master’s degree in forensic accounting from Wharton. I let him take the wheel because I loved him. Big mistake."
"The financial leverage is magnificent," Marcus agreed. "We can hit him with civil embezzlement, corporate fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty. But to truly dismantle him, we need to strike at the heart of his public persona. Vance Global Logistics relies entirely on its pristine family-man image. If the public finds out how he treats his wife while funding his mistress's lavish lifestyle, his stock will plummet overnight."
"Let's give the public what they’ve been missing," I said with a thin smile.
Within twenty-four hours, an exclusive investigative piece dropped on the front page of the Los Angeles Chronicle and quickly went viral across national news outlets. The headline read: The Vance Empire Built on Betrayal: How a Beverly Hills Billionaire Left His Wife to Die While Funding His Mistress's Luxury Lifestyle.
The article featured leaked medical records, emergency room audio logs where Dominic ordered doctors to save Natalie first, and clear financial receipts tracing millions from my family trust directly into Natalie’s personal boutiques and real estate holdings.

The internet exploded. Within hours, the hashtag #BoycottVanceGlobal was trending #1 worldwide. Protestors gathered outside the Vance Global headquarters in downtown Los Angeles, holding signs bearing my face and demanding Dominic's immediate resignation.
Dominic Vance was no longer an untouchable titan of industry. He was public enemy number one.
