Chapter 14 - THE EVIDENCE THAT SHATTERED THE EMPIREI let him finish. I didn't interrupt, I didn't flinch, and I didn't break eye contact.

When Dominic finally sat back down, basking in the nervous silence of the board members, I slowly raised my hand and gestured to Alexander.

"Thank you, Dominic, for that very thorough and dramatic presentation," I said smoothly, standing up from my chair. I walked to the digital projection screen at the front of the room and plugged in my encrypted flash drive.

"You argued that all designs created during our marriage belong to the parent corporation under work-for-hire provisions," I continued, my voice echoing clearly off the glass walls. "That would be a compelling argument... if Caruso Design Group had been legally incorporated as a legitimate entity under valid foundational patents."

The screen flickered to life.

Instead of financial spreadsheets, the projection displayed Arthur Pendelton’s yellowed, water-damaged 1994 partnership dissolution contract, alongside a digital forensic timeline that traced the illegal acquisition of Elena Moretti's original designs.

Dominic’s face instantly lost all color. He half-stood from his chair, his hands slamming onto the glass table. "What is that? Where did you get that trash?"

"It's not trash, Dominic," Alexander Vance spoke up, adjusting his glasses calmly. "It's the original corporate sin of your family. For thirty years, every single collection, every patent, and every asset held by Caruso Design Group has been built upon stolen intellectual property belonging to the Moretti family—a theft originally executed by your father and systematically continued by you."

I stepped closer to Dominic, looking down at him from the head of the table where he had sat so comfortably just moments before.

"Furthermore," I added, my voice dropping to a dangerous whisper, "under federal racketeering and corporate fraud statutes, if an empire is founded on fraudulent asset appropriation, all subsequent corporate restructuring, shares, and subsidiary rights are legally null and void."

I tapped the remote. A second document appeared on the screen—a federal grand jury subpoena issued that very morning, naming Dominic Caruso personally in an ongoing criminal investigation for corporate fraud, perjury, and intimidation.

"You don't own this company, Dominic," I said clearly. "You never did. And as of ten minutes ago, the federal government has frozen every single remaining offshore asset tied to your syndicate."

The silence in the room was absolute. You could hear the hum of the air conditioning unit echoing through the floor vents.

Dominic stared at the screen, his mouth opening and closing soundlessly, like a fish gasping for air. The invincible billionaire facade had completely dissolved, leaving behind a terrified, cornered man.
