Chapter 17 - THE NEW ERA OF NORA CARUSOSpring arrived in Manhattan with a sudden burst of golden sunlight and blooming cherry blossoms along Central Park West.

The federal investigation into Caruso Design Group—now officially and permanently renamed Nora Caruso Global Atelier—was successfully concluded, with the brand exonerated of past corruption due to my proactive cooperation and complete structural overhaul. The media outlets that had once hounded me outside the Crown Harbor Hotel now praised my leadership as a masterclass in corporate ethics and resilience.
Inside my newly redesigned flagship showroom on Fifth Avenue, the atmosphere was electric.
Today was the private VIP preview of our spring-summer collection—the first collection designed entirely under my own name, featuring the original sketches I had drawn years ago, alongside bold, modern innovations that redefined luxury fashion.
"Nora, the press gallery is packed," Elena whispered excitedly, popping her head into my private dressing room. "Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle—they're all out there. And the digital livestream has already hit two million concurrent viewers."
I adjusted the collar of my crisp, white silk tailored suit, catching my reflection in the gilded mirror. The scar on my cheek was completely gone, healed into smooth skin, and the tear in my earlobe was barely noticeable. I fastened a pair of simple, elegant diamond earrings—ones I had purchased myself with my own earnings.
"Let them in, Elena," I smiled, my heart beating with steady, exhilarating rhythm. "Let's show them what real design looks like."
As the house lights dimmed and the first chords of a vibrant, energetic orchestral track echoed through the showroom, models glided down the runway wearing gowns of flowing sapphire, ivory, and emerald. There were no stolen ideas, no fraudulent claims, and no shadow of a dominating spouse.
Every single stitch was a declaration of freedom.
From my front-row seat, right beside me, sat Eli, swinging his legs happily in a miniature velvet blazer, clutching his favorite stuffed T-Rex.

"Mommy, look! The dresses are glowing!" Eli whispered excitedly, pointing at a cascading silver gown that caught the stage lights like liquid moonlight.
I wrapped my arm around my son, kissing the top of his head. "They're not just glowing, sweetheart. They're flying."
