Chapter 17 - The Siege of Monte Carlo

“Then let it drown,” Dominic said, stepping up beside Clara.
He didn't hesitate. Dominic grabbed Marco by the collar, dragged him away from the wall, and slapped heavy titanium cuffs onto his wrists.
“You think we care about the syndicate, Marco?” Dominic growled into the old man's ear. “I built the Moretti empire to protect my family. If I have to burn it to ashes to keep them safe, I’ll light the match myself.”
Dominic turned to Marcus. “Take him to the secure transport. Seal him in the deep vault under the island. No light. No visitors. Ever.”
While Marcus dragged the screaming old man away, Clara dropped to her knees beside the two little girls.
Lily had wrapped her arms tightly around Iris. Iris was sobbing hysterically, the brainwashing completely shattered by the warmth of her sister’s hug and her mother’s song.
“Mommy?” Iris wept, looking up with wide, terrified eyes. “Am I… am I a bad monster?”
Clara pulled both girls into her chest, crying so hard her body shook. “No, my sweet baby. You were just lost in the dark. But Mommy and Daddy found you.”
