Chapter 5 - THE BOARDROOM SHOWDOWN

The entire city erupted into chaos. The live broadcast revealed financial records, offshore accounts, and video evidence of the Board of Directors orchestrating industrial sabotage and political corruption for thirty years.
By midnight, thousands of angry citizens flooded the streets outside the massive 100-story Sterling Tower in the center of the financial district.
Leo walked through the front doors of the Sterling Tower. He was no longer running. He wore a sharp black suit taken from the briefcase, the biometric ring gleaming on his right hand.
Security guards stood frozen, looking at their phones, then back at Leo. Nobody raised a weapon. The truth had stripped the executives of their power.
Leo rode the private executive elevator all the way to the 100th floor—the Grand Boardroom.
The doors slid open.
Inside sat the twelve members of the Sterling Board of Directors around a massive horseshoe-shaped mahogany table. At the head of the table sat Victoria, her face bruised and manic, frantically trying to destroy paper files in a shredder. Beside her stood Samantha, looking grim.
And sitting at the far end of the room, looking out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the protesting crowd below, was Madam Eleanor.
She was alive. Healthy. Standing on her own two feet.
"Welcome to the final act, Leo," Eleanor said, turning around with a faint, enigmatic smile.
Leo walked into the boardroom, his footsteps heavy against the hardwood floor. "You lied to me. The wheelchair. The weak hands. The assassination. It was all staged."
"Not staged, Leo. Filtered," Eleanor replied smoothly. "I needed to reveal every snake in this room. If I simply named you my heir, they would have assassinated you in your sleep tomorrow. I had to force them to commit their crimes on live television. I needed them to destroy themselves."
Victoria dropped her stack of papers, screaming at Eleanor. "You crazy old hag! You dragged us all down for a stock boy?!"
"He is not a stock boy," Eleanor said coldly. "He is the majority shareholder of Sterling Global."
Eleanor took a thick leather binder from the table and tossed it in front of Leo. "With the master key you retrieved, and the biometric activation from your ring, 51% of all company voting shares have automatically reverted to Arthur Vance's direct heir. You, Leo."
Samantha stepped forward, her hand on her holster. "He won't survive the night to claim it. The Board will file an emergency injunction—"
"The Board is finished, Samantha," Leo interrupted, his voice dropping an octave.
He tapped his tablet. The heavy boardroom doors burst open. Federal agents and armed police officers swarmed the room, badges drawn.
"Victoria Vance—you are under arrest for conspiracy and attempted murder," the lead agent announced. "Samantha Sterling, the entire Board—hands on the table! NOW!"
Chaos broke out as the executives were cuffed one by one. Victoria shrieked, cursing Leo as she was dragged out toward the elevators. Samantha glared at Leo with pure hatred before being led away in silence.

The massive room fell silent once more.
Only Leo and Eleanor remained.
