Chapter 9 - CheckmateCaleb didn't look defeated. In fact, as Julian Sterling stepped closer to snatch the flash drive from his hand, a strange, calm smile touched the corner of the young boy's mouth.

"You forgot rule number one of cybersecurity, Mr. Sterling," Caleb said softly.
Sterling stopped dead in his tracks, frowning. "What are you talking about?"
"Never trust a local network," Caleb said.
With a lightning-fast motion, Caleb pulled a small wireless transmitter from his pocket and clicked a single button.
Instantly, every television, computer, tablet, and smart speaker in Sterling Manor lit up at maximum volume. At the same time, the encrypted files from Project Icarus—every illegal transaction, every offshore shell company, every piece of evidence proving Julian Sterling’s multi-billion-dollar fraud—began automatically uploading to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the FBI's financial crimes division, and every major news outlet in the country.
Sterling’s face drained of all color. His eyes went wide with absolute, unadulterated horror.
"What... what did you do?" Sterling snarled, lunging forward like a wild animal. "Give me that!"
Noah tackled Sterling around the knees with every ounce of fury and strength he possessed. The billionaire crashed hard to the polished hardwood floor, his silk bathrobe tearing as he struggled to shake the boy off.
"Caleb! Run!" Noah screamed, wrestling with the grown man.
Caleb didn't run. He stood over the desk, typing one final command into Sterling's master terminal.
"Upload complete," a synthesized robotic voice announced through the room's speakers.
Sirens began to wail in the distance—faint at first, but growing louder by the second as flashing red and blue lights painted the floor-to-ceiling windows of the master study. Federal agents, accompanied by local police, were already breaching the outer security gates of the estate. The automated defense turrets, overridden by Caleb’s code, powered down one by one.
Sterling managed to throw Noah off, scrambling to his feet, panting heavily, his hair disheveled, his expression twisted into a mask of pure demonic rage.
"You ruined me," Sterling whispered, staring at Caleb in disbelief. "You ruined everything I spent thirty years building... for an old woman who's already half in the grave."
"Character is what you do when nobody is watching," Noah said, picking himself up off the floor, wiping blood from his lip, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with his brother. "You don't know what character is, Mr. Sterling. And that's why you lost."
The heavy oak doors of the study burst open.
A dozen federal agents in tactical gear swarmed into the room, assault rifles raised, shouting commands.
"FBI! Don't move! Hands where we can see them!"
The lead agent pushed through the line, handcuffs ready. He took one look at Julian Sterling standing in disarray among the smashed electronics, then looked at the two young boys standing calmly beside him.
"Julian Sterling, you're under arrest for securities fraud, corporate espionage, and international money laundering," the lead agent barked, slamming steel handcuffs onto the billionaire's wrists.
As Sterling was dragged screaming and thrashing out of his own study, he glared back at the twins with pure venom.
"You won't survive a week without me!" Sterling roared as the agents hauled him away. "You'll be back on the streets! Back in the dirt!"

The heavy silence of the ruined mansion settled around the brothers.
Noah let out a long, shuddering breath, his knees finally turning to jelly. Caleb caught him, throwing his arms around his older brother's neck. They held onto each other tightly, right there in the middle of the billionaire's ruined empire.
