Chapter 3 - The Ghost WeekendAustin didn't notice the financial earthquake until Thursday morning.

According to my private investigator’s daily briefing, Austin had spent Monday through Wednesday managing damage control at the firm while playing the grieving, exhausted husband whose best friend miraculously survived a non-existent surgery. He assumed I was weeping in our brownstone, nursing my wounded pride, waiting for his triumphant return.

On Friday, he packed a weekend bag.

My investigator’s photos captured him loading a duffel bag into his Audi Q7, picking up Chloe Vance—a junior associate from his firm who specialized in corporate compliance and long hotel stays—and heading toward a secluded coastal rental in Kennebunkport.

Chloe thought she was stepping into the shoes of the brilliant, wealthy lawyer’s wife. She posted a cryptic Instagram story of a sunset clinking champagne glasses, captioning it: "Peace after the storm."

They believed they were untouchable. They believed the wedding night lie had been successfully buried.

Let him have his weekend. Let him taste freedom, luxury, and compliance with his new mistress. Because when he returned on Sunday night, the foundation beneath his polished life was going to collapse inward, dragging him down into the dust.
