Chapter 3 - THE FIFTY-ONE PERCENT PARADOX"Elena?" Adrian gasped, stepping back slightly, his eyes wide with shock. "What... what are you doing here? You're supposed to be—"

"Hiding? Crying? Waiting for your permission to exist?" Elena interrupted, walking straight to the head of the table. She didn't sit down. She placed both hands flat on the glass, leaning in toward Adrian until she was inches from his face. "You look surprised, darling. Did you really think a slap from a weak man would keep me away from my own company?"

"Security!" Adrian shouted, his voice cracking as panic flared in his chest. "Get this woman out of here! She's mentally unstable! Look at her face—she's self-harming!"

"Touch her, and you will spend the rest of your life in a federal penitentiary," Marcus said smoothly, stepping between Adrian and the corporate security guards, showing a federal badge.

Celeste, who had been sitting in the guest gallery at the back, rushed forward, her expensive heels clicking furiously. "Elena, you ungrateful little orphan! How dare you interrupt an official board meeting! You signed those shares over to my son! You are nothing! You have nothing!"

Elena didn't even look at Celeste. She simply raised her right hand and snapped her fingers.

Her chief attorney, Arthur Pendelton—a legendary corporate litigator known as 'The Executioner'—stepped forward and opened a leather folder.

"Let us correct the record for the board," Pendelton announced in a booming voice. "First, regarding the share transfer document presented by Mr. Adrian Vale. The document is a complete forgery. We have full-HD audio and video recordings from the altar of St. Jude's Cathedral, recorded yesterday at 3:15 PM."

Pendelton pressed a button on a remote control.

The massive LED screens at the front of the boardroom flared to life.

High-definition video began to play. The room gasped in collective horror.

On the screen, Adrian’s face was twisted in rage. The audio was crystal clear: "Don't embarrass me again," Adrian’s recorded voice echoed through the speaker system, followed instantly by the sickening, loud crack of his palm striking Elena's face.

The video clearly showed Brody Vance slipping the forged papers under the marriage certificate while Celeste smiled in the background.

The board members turned to look at Adrian with absolute disgust. Several female directors gasped, covering their mouths.

"This is a lie! It's a deepfake!" Brody Vance shouted, his face turning pale as paper. "That video is manipulated!"

"The video was hashed and timestamped onto a public blockchain network five minutes after it was recorded," Pendelton said coldly. "The FBI forensics unit has already validated its authenticity. Mr. Vance, you and Mr. Vale are currently under federal investigation for corporate fraud, coercion, and forgery."

Adrian’s sweat began to pour down his neck, soaking his pristine white collar. He lunged toward the table, pointing a shaking finger at Elena.

"Even if... even if the transfer is invalid," Adrian stammered, his eyes darting frantically around the room, "it doesn't matter! Without your twelve percent, your father only owns forty percent! I still hold thirty-two percent from proxy votes! You cannot fire me! The board is hung!"

Elena chuckled. It was a dark, melodic sound that sent a shiver down Adrian's spine.

She turned to her father. Julian stood up, walking toward his daughter with a look of fierce pride.

"Adrian," Julian said softly. "You spent eight months researching my family. You knew I had a lost daughter who was raised in foster care. You found her, seduced her, and tried to steal her inheritance because you thought she was weak. But your research was sloppy."

Julian pulled a gold key from his pocket and unlocked a black leather document case.

"When I found Elena three years ago," Julian continued, "I didn't just give her twelve percent of Halcyon Hotels to test her. I placed fifty-one percent of the total voting shares into an irrevocable, blind trust held exclusively under her birth name: Elena Katherine Ward."

The entire boardroom went dead quiet. You could hear the faint buzz of the fluorescent lights.

"Fifty... fifty-one percent?" Adrian whispered, his knees buckling. He grabbed the edge of the glass table to stop himself from falling. "No... no, that's impossible. The public filings said..."

"The public filings listed 'Valhalla Holdings' as the owner of thirty-nine percent," Elena said, stepping closer to him, her eyes burning with pure, unadulterated vengeance. "Valhalla Holdings is a shell company registered in Delaware. And I am the sole owner of Valhalla."

She leaned in, her voice dropping to a icy whisper that only Adrian could hear.

"I didn't own twelve percent, Adrian. I owned sixty-three percent of this entire empire. I was never your victim. You were sitting in my house, drinking my champagne, and planning to steal a company that was already entirely mine."
