Chapter 10 - The Horizon AheadThe sun was setting outside my office window, painting the evening sky in brilliant shades of burning orange, deep violet, and gold.

It was the exact same color palette as the sunset Daniel had posed beneath in Cabo San Lucas months ago—the sunset he thought symbolized his ultimate freedom, his grand escape, his victory over a life he wanted to discard.

I smiled, swirling a glass of sparkling water as I watched the city lights flicker on below.

That sunset hadn't been an escape. It had been a bonfire. A roaring, destructive fire that had burned away every toxic branch, every parasite, and every illusion in my life, leaving fertile, rich soil in its place.

From that ash, I hadn't just rebuilt my life—I had built an empire.

My phone chimed softly on the desk, displaying a calendar reminder for tomorrow morning: 9:00 AM – Keynote Speaker: Women in Law and Business Empowerment Summit.

I looked down at the notification, then back at Noah, who was now sleeping peacefully against my chest, his breathing steady, deep, and strong.

I walked over to the crib in the corner of my office, gently laying him down and pulling the soft blue blanket over his shoulders. He didn't even stir, safe in the warm, unbreakable fortress I had built with my own two hands, my own mind, and my own fierce, unwavering soul.

I turned off the desk lamp, walked out of my office, and locked the door behind me with a crisp, satisfying click.

Daniel wanted a dramatic story for the internet?

I had given him one. But I was the one who wrote the ending—and it was a masterpiece.
