Chapter 4: The Director's Terrifying Secret
The hospital director forced a nervous smile.
"She's mistaken."
"I've never seen that man before."
The investigator didn't blink.
"Really?"
He opened the thick folder.
Inside were security photos.
Hospital logs.
Financial records.
Phone records.
One picture showed Jonathan Hayes entering the hospital exactly six months earlier.
Standing beside him...
...was the director himself.
The hallway erupted.
"That's impossible!"
"You lied!"
The director backed away.
"I can explain!"
"You'd better," the investigator replied.
"Because someone has been trying to keep Jonathan Hayes invisible for over two decades."
The director's breathing became frantic.
"You don't understand..."
"I had no choice."
Eleanor stepped closer.
"Who forced you?"
He looked toward the operating room.
Then whispered four chilling words.
"They're still watching us."
A sudden power outage plunged the hospital into darkness.
Patients screamed.
Emergency lights flickered red.
Inside the operating room...
Every surgical monitor suddenly went black.
The lead surgeon shouted,
"We've lost power!"
"No... the backup generators are offline!"
A nurse gasped.
"Someone shut them down manually!"
Outside...
The investigator grabbed his radio.
"Lock every exit!"
But it was already too late.
Security cameras captured three masked figures dressed as paramedics entering the operating room moments before the blackout.
They weren't there to save Jonathan Hayes.
