Chapter 7 - The Ghost Returns to the BoardroomThe heavy oak doors of the eighty-second-floor boardroom remained shut tight as Victor Vance raised his gavel to officially ratify the corporate dissolution decree.

"All in favor of total asset liquidation and restructuring, say aye," Victor announced, scanning the room with a triumphant grin.
"Aye," chorused three of the corrupted board members in unison.
"Motion carried unanimously," Victor said, raising the gavel to strike the final blow.
CLANG.
The heavy double doors of the boardroom didn't just open—they slammed violently against the reinforced walls with a deafening crash that rattled the crystal chandelier overhead.
Every head snapped toward the entrance in absolute shock.
Standing in the doorway was Owen Faulkner.
He wasn't in a wheelchair. He wasn't hooked up to IV drips. He wore a crisp, midnight-black bespoke three-piece suit, his posture rigid and commanding. The temporary ventricular assist device hummed quietly beneath his vest, powered by a high-output portable medical harness hidden beneath his jacket.
Walking right beside him, holding his left hand firmly in her small fingers, was Hannah. She wore a neat tweed coat and looked around the opulent boardroom with calm, unflinching curiosity.
Victor Vance dropped his fountain pen. It rolled across the walnut table and clattered onto the floor. "Owen... how... you’re supposed to be in a vegetative state in the ICU!"
"And you were supposed to wait until I was cold in the ground before dividing up my estate, Victor," Owen’s voice boomed, cutting through the silence like a razor blade. He walked slowly down the center aisle toward the head of the table, his footsteps echoing with rhythmic precision.
"Security! Guards!" Victor screamed, panicking as he scrambled backward in his chair. "Remove this trespasser immediately!"
"Before you call security, Victor, you might want to look at the screen behind you," Owen said calmly, gesturing to the massive digital projection wall at the front of the room.
Marcus stepped out from the shadows beside the projection console, tapping a key on his tablet. Instantly, the glowing corporate logo vanished, replaced by a live financial audit report, alongside high-resolution legal indictments and bank routing numbers.
"Federal wire transfers routed from offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands to your personal Swiss holding company, Uncle Vic," Marcus announced loudly. "Bribes paid to manipulate the morning's emergency quorum vote, timestamped at 5:30 AM today."
The three corrupted board members turned pale as chalk, staring frantically at the undeniable financial proof splashed across the giant screen in glaring red text.
"This... this is a forgery! A setup!" Victor shrieked, his voice cracking with rising hysteria.
"It's a federal indictment," a cool, authoritative voice rang out from the hallway.
Two senior agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation walked calmly into the boardroom, flanked by local marshals. They bypassed Owen without a second glance and walked straight toward Victor Vance.
"Victor Vance, you are under arrest for securities fraud, corporate espionage, and illegal insider manipulation," the lead federal agent stated, reading the Miranda rights as steel cuffs snapped onto Victor’s wrists.
As Victor was hauled away kicking and screaming curses, the remaining terrified board members shrank back into their leather chairs, utterly paralyzed.

Owen walked up to the head of the table, stood behind the chairman’s leather seat, and looked down at the silent, trembling executives. He picked up the dropped gavel, turned it over in his hand, and set it gently back down on the wood.
"The meeting is adjourned," Owen said quietly.
