Chapter 16 - The Confrontation in the SnowThe mercenaries and federal agents were lined up against the exterior wall of the lodge, their hands locked behind their heads.

Vincent walked slowly down the wooden steps of the porch, his heavy boots crunching rhythmically in the deep snow. He stopped directly in front of the lead agent, his gray eyes piercing right through the man's bravado.

"Tell Elena Vance that her game is over," Vincent said quietly, leaning in close. "Tell her that if she ever comes near my son again, I won't just take her empire. I'll take her life."

The agent swallowed hard, nodding mutely. "Understood."

"Get off my mountain," Vincent ordered.

Within three minutes, the black transport helicopters lifted off, scrambling wildly into the gray sky, desperate to escape the wrath of the Wolf.

Vincent watched them disappear over the ridge, letting out a long, slow breath. The adrenaline slowly faded, replaced by a profound exhaustion. But as he turned around and walked back toward the lodge, the heavy front door creaked open.

Leo stood in the doorway, his eyes wide and bright.

"Dad?" the boy asked softly. "Are the bad men gone?"

Vincent dropped his rifle onto the snow, fell to his knees, and opened his arms wide.

"They're gone, son," Vincent whispered as Leo ran into his embrace, burying his face in his chest. "And they're never coming back."
