Chapter 18 - A Normal LifeA year passed.

The name Vincent Crowe faded from the front pages of the financial tabloids, turning from a terrifying urban legend into a distant myth whispered by old men in corporate boardrooms. In a quiet, sun-drenched suburban neighborhood three hundred miles away from the city, a new house stood surrounded by tall oak trees and a white picket fence.
There were no guards at the gate. No hidden cameras. No armored cars.
Every morning at sunrise, Vincent walked down the quiet sidewalk holding a small, warm hand.
"Dad, can we stop at the park today?" Leo asked, riding his shiny new red bicycle with training wheels spinning steadily beside them. "I want to race you to the big slide!"
"Only if you promise not to fall this time," Vincent laughed, a sound so warm and genuine that anyone who had known the ruthless Wolf twenty years ago would never have believed it possible.
"I won't fall! You taught me how to balance!" Leo beamed proudly, pedaling faster down the pavement.
Vincent watched him go, feeling a deep, unshakeable warmth bloom inside his chest. He had spent half his life building a fortress of fear, believing that power was the only shield against a cruel world.
