Chapter 5 - The Betrayal WithinBack at the fifty-floor penthouse, the sanctuary felt shattered. Bulletproof glass had been reinforced, and twelve armed syndicate enforcers now patrolled the hallways like silent statues.

Vincent paced the floor of his study, pouring a glass of amber scotch. His phone buzzed. It was Julian, his oldest and most trusted advisor—the man who had managed the finances of the Crowe empire since its inception.

"Boss," Julian’s voice sounded tight, strained over the secure line. "We traced the operational chatter from the clinic attack. The server routing leads to an offshore account in the Caymans."

"Name," Vincent demanded.

"That's... that's the complication, Vincent. The account is registered under a shell corporation owned by Marcus Vance, but the wire transfer originated from inside our network. One of our inner circle sold us out."

Vincent’s eyes narrowed. "Who?"

"I'm looking at the access logs right now," Julian said, his voice dropping to a whisper. "It was... Marcus Miller. Your head of logistics."

Vincent stared out at the sprawling city lights below. Miller had been with him for twelve years. He had taken a knife to the shoulder for Vincent during the dock wars of 2014.

"Where is Miller now?" Vincent asked quietly.

"Down in the subterranean garage, prepping the armored transport for your emergency evacuation."

"Don't move him," Vincent said, a dark smile touching the corners of his mouth. "I'll handle this personally."
