Chapter 10 - The Masterpiece's True HeirLater that evening, after the grand opening ceremony had concluded, the guests departed, leaving the top-floor observatory of the Clara Whitlock Memorial Center quiet and serene.

The floor-to-ceiling glass dome offered an unobstructed 360-degree view of the Manhattan skyline. Stars twinkled brightly above the urban sea of lights.

Elena stood near the glass, holding a glass of champagne, watching the city below.

Damian walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin gently on her shoulder. Elena leaned back into his warm chest, feeling safe, complete, and deeply at peace.

"What are you thinking about?" Damian asked softly into her hair.

"I’m thinking about that night," Elena murmured. "When you opened the door of that Rolls-Royce and told me to get out of the rain."

"I was terrified you were going to say no," Damian confessed with a quiet laugh.

Elena turned around in his arms, looking up into his dark, handsome face. "You? Damian Vescari, terrified?"

"I had spent four years looking for you, Elena," Damian said, his expression turning serious, his hand reaching into his pocket. "Every night for four years, I wondered if the woman who saved my life was real, or if she was just a ghost I invented while lying in an emergency room."

Damian drew a small velvet box from his jacket and opened it.

Inside was not a standard diamond engagement ring. It was a custom-crafted ring made of platinum, sculpted into the delicate shape of a lotus archway—the exact sketch from the fire-singed notebook she had lost four years ago—holding a flawless, brilliant black diamond at its center.

"Elena Whitlock," Damian said, stepping back and dropping to one knee on the glass floor, looking up at her with profound love. "Four years ago, you saved my life. Six months ago, you gave it meaning. Will you do me the honor of building the rest of our future together?"

Elena’s heart overflowed with emotion. She didn't hesitate for a single second.

"Yes," she whispered, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes. "Yes, Damian!"

Damian slipped the ring onto her finger and stood, pulling her into a deep, passionate kiss. Outside the glass dome, Manhattan glittered beneath them like a kingdom of stars—a city they now ruled together, built on truth, legacy, and an unbreakable love that could never be washed away by the rain.
