Chapter 2 - The Ghost in the MachineDeep beneath the tarmac of Terminal B, in the labyrinthine utility tunnels where baggage carts and maintenance crews moved away from public view, two men in counterfeit airport security uniforms were packing away a specialized digital relay box.

"Lockdown's early," muttered the taller one, whose face bore a jagged scar running from his ear down into his collar. "Cole must not have boarded."

"Doesn't matter," the shorter man replied, tapping furiously on a military-grade Panasonic Toughbook. "The payload is already uploaded to the flight control transponder of Flight 442. Once that bird hits thirty thousand feet over the Atlantic, a remote frequency handshake triggers the secondary fuel line valve. Total atmospheric disintegration. No black box recovery, no forensics, just a tragic mechanical failure."

"And Marcus?"

"Marcus is already cleaning up the loose ends at the home office," the shorter man grinned, pulling out an earpiece. "He wants confirmation before he destroys the master ledger."

Suddenly, the screen on the Toughbook flashed bright crimson. A cascading wall of green text abruptly turned blood red, replaced by a blinking skull icon and a single word: TRACED.

"What the hell?" The shorter man slammed his hands onto the keyboard. "Someone's inside our local subnet! They're bypassing the firewall!"

"Cut the hardline!" the scarred man barked, drawing a suppressed Glock from his holster.

Before he could raise the weapon, a heavy pneumatic access door ten feet away exploded inward with a deafening bang. Smoke clears, and Ray Caldwell steps through, his tactical shotgun leveled squarely at their chests.

"Drop the laptop," Ray commanded, his voice devoid of mercy. "Or I start removing limbs."
