Chapter 2 - The Secret Contract

HOOK: Every empire is built on a lie. Daniel’s brilliant career wasn't built on talent; it was stolen. And Elena held the missing piece of the puzzle that could destroy him by midnight.
The news spread through the academy like wildfire. The legendary Elena Rostova had bought the school out of bankruptcy in secret, and she was turning it into a battleground.
By afternoon, Daniel was summoned to the grand director's office—the office that now belonged to Elena. He walked in, his hands sweating. Sitting across from Elena was Julian, the school’s principal donor and Daniel’s secret lover. Julian was a powerful billionaire whose money had kept the academy afloat for years.
"Sit down, Daniel," Elena said without looking up from her paperwork.
Daniel sat, looking at Julian for support, but Julian’s face was pale, his eyes darting nervously toward the window.
"Thirty years ago, I left this school because it became corrupt," Elena began, closing a thick, black folder. "I was told my time had passed. A young, ambitious choreographer named Marcus stole my choreography, claimed it as his own, and drove me out. Do you know who Marcus was, Daniel?"
Daniel’s blood ran cold. "He... he was my mentor."
"He was your father," Elena corrected sharply. "And history loves to repeat itself. I have spent the last month reviewing the school’s archives. The brilliant 'Swan Lake' rendition that won you the National Prize last year? The choreography wasn't yours."
Daniel leaped to his feet. "That's a lie! I spent months writing those notes!"
"You spent months reading your father’s old, unpublished journals," Elena stated calmly. She slid a dusty, yellowed notebook across the desk. It was identical to the one Daniel kept in his private safe. "Your father stole from me. You stole from your dead father. And Julian here..." She glanced at the billionaire. "...funded the cover-up to ensure his investment in you paid off."
Julian slammed his hand on the desk. "Listen here, old woman! You may own the building, but my foundation funds the international tour next month. If you ruin Daniel, I pull the money, and this school goes under by tomorrow morning!"

Elena smiled, a slow, terrifying expression. "Then pull it. Because the international tour is canceled. In its place, we are hosting an open, televised showcase. One spot for the lead dancer. One spot for the choreographer. Daniel will compete against an unknown challenger. If he wins, he keeps his job and his reputation. If he loses... I reveal the plagiarism to the global press."
THE NEXT HOOK: Daniel was confident he could out-choreograph anyone Elena brought in. That was until he saw the challenger step into the studio—a ghost from his own dark past.
