Chapter 3 - The Shadow Choreographer

HOOK: The rules of the game changed the moment the doors opened. Elena wasn't just bringing in a rival; she was bringing back the one person Daniel had betrayed to reach the top.
The following morning, the atmosphere in the academy was tense enough to snap a piano wire. The media had already caught wind of the "Great Showdown" at the Grand Metropolitan. Cameras were being set up in the main theater.
Daniel stood on the stage, his arms crossed, trying to project absolute confidence. "I don't care who she brings," he whispered to Julian, who stood in the wings. "No one in this city can match my speed and precision."
"Don't underestimate her, Daniel," Julian warned, checking his phone nervously. "The board is panicking."
Suddenly, Elena walked onto the stage. Behind her came a young man wearing a torn hoodie, his face shadowed. When he pulled back his hood, a collective gasp echoed from the few students allowed to watch.
It was Leo.
Three years ago, Leo had been the star student of the academy, a prodigy born from the slums who danced with raw, unbridled passion. He and Daniel had been best friends—until a mysterious "accident" shattered Leo’s ankle right before the Olympic gala, ending his career and paving the way for Daniel to become the sole star. Leo had vanished into poverty, forgotten.
Except he wasn't limping anymore.
"Leo?" Daniel choked out, stepping back. "Your foot... you were paralyzed in that ankle."
"Miracles happen when you have a real master helping you heal," Leo said, his voice deep and filled with cold fury. "Elena found me working at a shipyard, Daniel. She paid for the surgery your 'generous' foundation refused to fund. She fixed my body. And she gave me a reason to dance again."
Elena stepped between them. "The challenge is simple. You both have forty-eight hours to choreograph a five-minute solo to Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. The students will vote blindly on the choreography. If Daniel loses, he is stripped of his titles. If Leo loses, he leaves the ballet world forever."
That night, desperate and terrified, Daniel cornered Julian in the parking lot. "Leo is a genius, Julian! If he dances, the students will know his style is superior. They love him! We have to do something."
Julian’s eyes darkened. "The same thing we did three years ago?"
Daniel hesitated, the memory of loosening the screws on the stage trapdoor flashing through his mind. "No... not that. It's too risky. Elena is watching."

"Then we don't hit his body," Julian whispered, a sinister grin forming on his face. "We hit his mind."
THE NEXT HOOK: Julian thought he had found Leo's breaking point. But their dirty trick backfired so violently that it forced Elena to make a move no one saw coming.
