CHAPTER 6 — The Final Betrayal
Emily thought the worst secret had been revealed.
She was wrong.
At the bottom of the cabinet was one final document.
A birth certificate.
Emily's birth certificate.
But the father's name was not Richard Hayes.
It was Victor Hayes.
Emily staggered backward.
Her whole life collapsed in one second.
Richard had raised her.
Protected her.
Let her hate him.
But he had not been her biological father.
Victor was.

That night, Emily visited Victor in prison.
He smiled through the glass.
"So now you know."
Emily stared at him coldly.
"Yes."
Victor leaned closer.
"And whether you like it or not... you are my daughter."
Emily slowly placed Richard's final letter against the glass.
"No," she whispered.
"I am the daughter of the man who saved me."
Then she walked away.
But behind her, Victor began laughing.
Because he knew one more secret...
One that Richard had taken to his grave.
