CHAPTER 7 — The Twin Sister No One Was Supposed to Find

Emily couldn't sleep after leaving the prison.

Victor's final words echoed endlessly in her mind.

"You have a twin..."

It sounded like another lie.

Another cruel game.

Yet the next morning, Detective Samuel Carter arrived at her apartment carrying a weathered archive box recovered from an abandoned police storage room.

"We found something that was misplaced thirty years ago," he said.

Inside were hospital records from the night Emily was born.

The delivery report clearly stated:

Female Infant #1

Female Infant #2

Twins.

Emily's knees buckled.

She had never been an only child.

A second file had been ripped from the folder decades earlier.

Only one clue remained.

A tiny pink hospital bracelet.

Written in faded ink...

"Baby Grace."

No surname.

No destination.

No adoption record.

Nothing.

Someone had erased Grace from history.

That evening, Detective Carter received a call from a retired nurse.

"I've carried this secret for thirty years," the elderly woman whispered.

"I was paid to stay silent."

She revealed that, just hours after the twins were born, a wealthy couple had arrived at the hospital with forged legal documents.

One baby left with Richard.

The other disappeared into a black limousine before sunrise.

Emily stared at the old photograph the nurse handed her.

The wealthy woman holding Baby Grace looked strangely familiar.

She had seen that face before...

On the cover of Forbes magazine.

Billionaire philanthropist Eleanor Ashcroft.
