Chapter 3 - The Siege of the Estate"Open this door right now!" Jasper roared, charging toward the main dining room entrance and throwing his massive 240-pound frame against the heavy oak wood.

The door didn't even splinter. It was reinforced steel beneath the mahogany veneer—a security feature Donald had installed himself to protect his wealth.

"Who's there?!" Donald shouted, his earlier bravado completely evaporating, replaced by a sudden, sickening panic as he stared into the pitch-black shadows of the hallway visible through the transom window. "Identify yourself! This is private property! I'll have you arrested!"

"Arrested?" The voice echoed back through the surround-sound system, cold as a winter grave. "Donald, you don't understand the rules of the world anymore. You thought you were playing a game of local neighborhood politics. You didn't realize you were playing with a loaded gun."

Kyle was trembling, frantically tapping his phone screen, trying to dial 911. But the screen remained frozen on a single, looping image: a digital crosshairs centered on a satellite map of the very room they were sitting in.

"The cell tower is jammed," Kyle whispered, his voice cracking with rising hysteria. "All signals are blocked by a military-grade localized EMP. We have no connection to the outside world."

"Break the window!" Donald barked, pointing toward the massive floor-to-ceiling French doors that led out to the back patio and pool deck.

Jasper didn't hesitate. He grabbed a heavy silver candelabra off the table and hurled it with all his might toward the glass.

CRASH!

The glass shattered into a thousand glittering shards. Fresh, cold night air rushed into the room, carrying the scent of rain and impending doom. Jasper smiled triumphantly, stepping over the broken frame toward the patio.

"We're getting out of here, Don. Some psycho is playing games, but once we reach the gate security—"

Jasper never finished his sentence.

From the shadows of the patio roof, a dark figure dropped silently from the overhang like a falling spider. There was no sound of impact—just a swift, blur-like motion. A heavy combat boot struck Jasper squarely in the chest with the force of a battering ram.

Jasper let out a strangled gasp, the air completely evacuated from his lungs as he flew backward through the air, crashing hard onto the dining room table. Crystal glasses shattered, wine bottles exploded, and Jasper lay motionless, unconscious before his body even stopped sliding.

Kyle screamed, stumbling backward until his spine hit the wall.

Donald staggered back, his hands shaking as he squinted into the rainy darkness of the patio.

Standing amidst the shattered glass, clad in a matte-black tactical jacket with all insignia scrubbed clean, stood Vance. His face was carved from granite, his eyes glowing faintly with the amber reflection of the emergency backup lights flickering on the ceiling.

"V-Vance?" Donald stammered, his jaw trembling as he stared at his son-in-law. The mild-mannered man who wore khakis and helped plant petunias in the spring was gone. In his place stood an apex predator. "What... what is this? Have you lost your mind? We're family!"

Vance stepped slowly into the room, the water dripping from his boots sounding like ticking clock hands in the terrified silence.

"Family," Vance repeated, the word tasting like poison on his tongue. "Is that what you call holding an eight-year-old boy down in a driveway while you mock his tears? Is that what you call telling him his father abandoned him?"

Donald swallowed hard, his throat dry as sandpaper. "He... he was acting out! He needed to be taught respect! You've been raising him soft—"

Vance moved so fast Donald didn't even see him cross the room. In a single fluid motion, Vance grabbed Donald by the collar of his expensive silk shirt, lifting the grown man entirely off his feet and slamming him hard against the brick fireplace.

The wind rushed out of Donald’s lungs with a pathetic wheeze.

"You broke my son's head," Vance whispered, his face inches from Donald's terrified eyes. "You bruised his face. You made him believe he was entirely alone in the dark." Vance's voice dropped to a chilling whisper. "Now, you're going to tell me every single asset, every offshore account, and every dirty secret your real estate syndicate is hiding... or I am going to show you what a real monster looks like."
