"Take Elena and Nora into the panic room beneath the cellar," Luca ordered Marco, his voice shifting instantly into tactical command mode. "Do not come out until I open the door myself."
"Luca, no! There are too many of them!" Elena cried out, reaching for him, but Luca was already moving.
He bent down, looking Nora dead in the eye. "Remember what you told me, Nora? That you are big? That you are strong?"
Nora nodded bravely, though her lips trembled.
"I need you to be big for Mama right now. Go with Marco. Keep her safe."
"I will, Daddy," Nora whispered.
The word Daddy hit Luca like a physical blow, fueling his veins with an adrenaline so pure it felt like liquid fire. He stood up, locked the panic room door behind them, and grabbed a heavy assault rifle from the wall rack.
Outside, the forest was alive with the sound of roaring engines and heavy footsteps. Headlights cut through the dense fog. It was Vincent Moretti himself—the ruthless head of the Moretti family—leading a squad of thirty highly trained mercenaries.
"Ferraro!" Vincent’s voice boomed through a megaphone from behind an armored truck. "We know you're in there! We know about the girl! Give us the brat, hand over your territory, and maybe we'll let you die quickly!"
Luca didn't bother responding with words. He responded with bullets.
Positioning himself at the second-story window, Luca opened fire, his bullets piercing the windshield of the lead SUV, killing the driver instantly. The safehouse erupted into a warzone. Rocket-propelled grenades tore through the front porch, setting the log cabin ablaze.
Luca moved like a ghost through the smoke, firing with lethal, robotic precision. Every shot was a testament to his rage. They had targeted his family. They had made his daughter wash clothes in cold water. They had left his woman to starve.
He eliminated ten men within five minutes, but the sheer numbers were overwhelming. A bullet grazed Luca’s shoulder, tearing through his tactical vest. Blood soaked his shirt—the very shirt Nora had tried so hard to clean.
He retreated to the main floor, his ammunition running low. The front door was kicked off its hinges. Vincent Moretti stepped inside, a sinister smirk on his scarred face, flanked by four heavily armed guards.
"End of the line, Ferraro," Vincent sneered, raising his weapon. "Your empire is mine. Your girl will be a great bargaining tool for the commission."
Luca, bleeding and exhausted, dropped to his knee, his rifle empty. He looked at Vincent with a dark, terrifying smile.

"You think I came here to hide, Vincent?" Luca whispered. "I brought you here to die."
Luca reached into his pocket and pressed a small black detonator.
