CHAPTER 1 — The Devil Who Feared Nothing... Until That Night

Everyone knew the name Vincenzo Moretti.
Police feared him.
Politicians obeyed him.
Even rival mafia families whispered his name instead of saying it out loud.
For twenty-five years, Vincenzo ruled the city's underworld with an iron fist. They called him The Devil in the Black Suit because nobody who betrayed him ever lived long enough to regret it.
He had everything.
Money.
Power.
Luxury.
Loyal soldiers willing to die for him.
But there was one thing nobody knew...
Every single night, before going to sleep, the most dangerous man in the city stared at an old photograph hidden inside his safe.
A smiling little girl.
Five years old.
Golden curls.
Bright blue eyes.
His daughter.
Sofia.
She had disappeared fifteen years earlier during a brutal attack carried out by a rival cartel.
The police searched.
Private investigators searched.
His own killers searched every country they could reach.
Nothing.
Not a single clue.
From that day on, Vincenzo became colder than ice.
He stopped believing in mercy.
He stopped believing in hope.
Until one rainy evening changed everything.
Thunder shook the city.
Luxury cars sped through flooded streets as Vincenzo's convoy returned from a secret meeting.
Suddenly...
SCREEECH!
The lead SUV slammed on the brakes.
"What happened?" Vincenzo growled.
One bodyguard looked terrified.
"Boss... there's a child in the road."
Vincenzo frowned.
Children didn't wander into abandoned industrial districts.
Something felt wrong.
Before anyone could react—
BANG!
Gunfire exploded from every rooftop.
Bullets shattered windows.
Explosions rocked the street.
"It's an ambush!"
More than forty assassins surrounded the convoy.
Rival mafia soldiers.
Machine guns.
Rocket launchers.
Enough firepower to wipe out an army.
The bodyguards immediately formed a shield around Vincenzo.
"Forget the kid!" one shouted.
"We have to move!"
But through the smoke...
The little boy wasn't running.
He was frozen in fear.
Maybe six years old.
Covered in dirt.
Holding a worn-out teddy bear.
Crying silently.
One rocket screamed toward him.
Without thinking...
The most feared mafia boss in America threw himself across the pavement.
BOOM!
The explosion sent concrete flying everywhere.
Vincenzo wrapped his own body around the child, taking the blast himself.
His men stared in complete disbelief.
"The Boss... saved the boy?"
No one had ever seen Vincenzo risk his life for anyone.
Especially a stranger.
When the shooting finally stopped, the assassins mysteriously retreated.
Vincenzo slowly stood.
Blood dripped from his shoulder.
The little boy looked up at him with frightened eyes.
Then whispered only four words...
"They're still hunting me."
Vincenzo's heartbeat stopped.
Because behind the child...
Someone had deliberately left a silver necklace.
May you like
One he recognized instantly.
It belonged to his missing daughter.
