CHAPTER 4 — The Little Boy Who Saved the Mafia Boss

No one dared breathe.
Every soldier stood frozen.
The warehouse had become a death trap.
Hidden explosives.
Laser sensors.
Pressure mines.
One mistake...
Everyone would die.
The distorted voice echoed again.
"I've spent fifteen years building this moment."
"You always believed power could protect your family."
"You were wrong."
Vincenzo calmly scanned the room.
"Who are you?"
The voice laughed.
"You don't recognize me?"
A giant projector flickered to life.
An old security video appeared.
The date on the screen made Vincenzo's heart stop.
Fifteen years earlier.
The night Sofia disappeared.
The footage showed his mansion under attack.
Gunfire.
Explosions.
Screaming.
Then...
A young man wearing a Wolf Syndicate jacket entered the nursery.
He gently picked up little Sofia.
But instead of hurting her...
He wrapped her in a blanket and carried her away from the burning house.
Marco gasped.
"He saved her..."
The voice answered.
"Exactly."
The video changed again.
The same young man now stood beside a small cabin deep in the mountains.
He was raising Sofia.
Teaching her to read.
Helping her ride a bicycle.
Protecting her.
Vincenzo couldn't believe his eyes.
"The man I hated..."
"...kept my daughter alive."
The voice became colder.
"He wanted to return her."
"But your own men hunted him."
"They mistook him for the kidnapper."
"They murdered him before he could tell the truth."
Silence.
Vincenzo's knees nearly gave way.
His own organization...
Had killed the only man protecting his daughter.
Before anyone could process the revelation—
A loud BEEP echoed beneath the floor.
The countdown had started.
05:00
Marco shouted,
"Boss! The mines are armed!"
The soldiers panicked.
But six-year-old Ethan suddenly slipped free from Vincenzo's hand.
"Ethan!"
The boy ignored the shouting.
He walked calmly across the floor.
One careful step.
Then another.
Everyone watched in horror.
"Stop!"
But Ethan smiled sadly.
"My mommy taught me."
He stopped beside an old stuffed rabbit lying on the concrete.
He picked it up.
Underneath...
Was a hidden emergency switch.
CLICK.
The countdown froze at 00:47.
Every explosive instantly powered down.
Complete silence filled the warehouse.
Marco stared at the little boy.
"How... did you know?"
Ethan looked toward the darkness.
"My mommy said..."
"If the man in the black suit ever came..."
"...tell him she never stopped waiting."
At that exact moment...
A hidden steel door slowly opened at the far end of the warehouse.
A woman's weak voice echoed through the darkness.
"...Dad?"
Vincenzo turned toward the sound.
Tears filled the eyes of the man who had never cried before.
May you like
His daughter...
Was finally calling him home.
