💥 CHAPTER 5 — The Mafia Boss Burned His Own Empire... To Save the Woman He Loved

The Moretti mansion was engulfed in flames.
Bullets ripped through marble walls.
Explosions echoed across the estate.
But Vincent Moretti never looked back.
His only concern was Emma.
For the first time in twenty years, the most feared mafia boss in America wasn't fighting for money...
He wasn't fighting for power...
He was fighting for one woman.
Deep beneath the mansion...
Inside a hidden command bunker...
Marco spread a digital map across the table.
"We tracked the signal from Emma's necklace."
Vincent's eyes narrowed.
"You put a tracker on her?"
Marco shook his head.
"No."
"You did."
Vincent frowned.
"I never..."
Marco slid an old photograph across the table.
It showed Emma wearing the silver necklace she had carried since childhood.
Inside the pendant...
Was an experimental military tracking chip.
Not installed recently.
Installed...
Twenty years ago.
Vincent felt a chill crawl down his spine.
"Who would do that to a child?"
Marco looked pale.
"Someone who never wanted to lose her."
The tracker led them to an abandoned church outside Chicago.
The building looked deserted.
Broken stained-glass windows.
Collapsed wooden pews.
Dust everywhere.
But Vincent sensed something wasn't right.
He pushed open the massive doors.
Silence.
Then...
Clap.
Clap.
Clap.
Slow applause echoed through the church.
A man stepped from the shadows.
Elegant gray suit.
Silver hair.
Perfect smile.
"Welcome, Vincent."
Vincent's blood froze.
"Leon Romano..."
The legendary boss of the Romano Syndicate.
The man believed dead for nearly fifteen years.
Leon smiled.
"You've become exactly the man I expected."
Vincent raised his pistol.
"Where's Emma?"
Leon ignored the question.
Instead, he looked around the church.
"Beautiful place..."
"Your father used to meet mine here."
Vincent's finger tightened on the trigger.
"My father hated your family."
Leon laughed.
"No."
"They were brothers."
The words echoed through the empty church.
Vincent's world tilted.
"What did you say?"
Leon slowly removed an old photograph from his pocket.
Two young men stood shoulder to shoulder.
Laughing.
One was Vincent's father.
The other...
Leon's older brother.
Neither looked like enemies.
They looked like family.
"You've been lied to your entire life."
Leon whispered.
"Our families built the empire together."
"So who destroyed it?"
Vincent asked.
Leon looked directly into his eyes.
"Someone above both of us."
Before Vincent could react...
Emma's voice echoed from behind the altar.
"Vincent!"
She was tied to a chair.
Bruised.
Exhausted.
But alive.
Vincent rushed forward.
The floor exploded beneath him.
Hidden explosives hurled him backward.
Concrete rained from the ceiling.
Snipers appeared in the balconies.
More than fifty armed men surrounded the church.
Leon sighed.
"I truly hoped you'd be smarter."
He snapped his fingers.
Emma was dragged deeper into the underground tunnels beneath the church.
Vincent tried to chase her...
But Marco grabbed his arm.
"It's a trap!"
Vincent stared helplessly as the steel doors slammed shut between them.
Emma disappeared into darkness.
Again.
Hours later...
Back at the bunker...
Vincent refused medical treatment.
He sat alone staring at the old photograph.
His father's smile.
Leon's brother.
Emma's necklace.
Nothing made sense.
Then...
His elderly butler quietly entered the room.
"I think..."
"I've waited too long to tell you the truth."
Vincent slowly looked up.
The old man removed a faded envelope from inside his jacket.
"I promised your father..."
"I would never open this..."
"Unless you fell in love."
Vincent's heart stopped.
Inside the envelope...
Was a letter written twenty-three years earlier.
May you like
It began with only one sentence.
"If you're reading this, Vincent... then you've already met Emma."
