Chapter 27 - THE DEEP VAULTRoman didn't waste another second on words. He lashed out with his left hand, grabbing Sterling by the collar of his suit jacket and slamming him hard against the marble wall, knocking the tablet out of his hand.

Marco, secure him and the mercenaries, Roman barked without breaking eye contact with Sterling. Elena, with me.
They sprinted down the private service hallway toward the concealed staircase leading to the sub-basement vault. The heavy steel door at the bottom of the stairs—normally locked with a triple-redundant mechanical combination and biometric scan—was swung wide open.
Inside the vault, the harsh fluorescent lights hummed overhead. Two of Sterling’s technical specialists were frantically packing heavy canvas bags with stacks of physical bearer bonds and gold bullion bars from the open security lockers.
Hands where we can see them! Elena shouted, stepping into the vault with her Beretta raised, her voice echoing off the concrete walls like a gunshot.
The two technicians spun around in sheer panic, dropping a canvas bag that split open, spilling thousands of dollars in unwashed bearer bonds across the concrete floor.
Roman stepped past Elena, closing the distance with terrifying speed. He didn't fire; he didn't need to. With two swift, brutal strikes, he disabled both technicians, sending them crashing unconscious to the floor.
The vault fell silent except for the hum of the fluorescent lights and the ticking of a secure laptop resting on the central steel table.
Elena walked over to the laptop, glancing down at the screen. The transfer progress bar was blinking furiously: 99.4% Complete. Finalizing Asset Block Transfer.
They’re draining the physical reserve liquidation protocol, Elena said, her fingers flying across the keyboard. If this reaches one hundred percent, the entire estate's deed and remaining assets legally revert to the syndicate's legacy foundation under Sterling's control.
Can you stop it? Roman asked, standing guard by the vault entrance.
I built this encryption architecture, Elena replied, her dark eyes flashing with absolute focus. Nobody stops it unless I say so.
She hit a sequence of master override keys, entering her father’s personal birth-date code combined with her own biometric thumbprint on an external reader attached to the laptop.
On the screen, the progress bar hesitated at 99.8%, flickered red, and then slammed backward into a cascading series of white text lines: ACCESS DENIED. SYSTEM LOCKOUT INITIATED. ASSET PURGE COMPLETE.
The screen went black.
The vault fell completely silent.
May you like
Elena let out a slow, steady breath, lowering her hands from the keyboard. She turned to look at Roman, a faint, victorious smile touching the corners of her lips.
It’s done, she whispered. Sterling is locked out permanently. The foundation has nothing left to claim.
