Chapter 9 - The Coronation

The grand ballroom of the Casaro estate was packed to maximum capacity. Every major capobasso, syndicate boss, and underground figure from Boston to Miami had gathered beneath the crystal chandeliers, their whispers echoing nervously off the marble walls.

The rumors had spread like wildfire through the criminal underworld: Leo Casaro, the undisputed king of Brooklyn, was stepping down from active daily operations—and he was naming a civilian woman as his co-successor.

The massive double doors at the end of the ballroom swung open.

A hush fell over the entire room instantly. You could hear a pin drop on the marble floor.

Leo Casaro walked in first, wearing his immaculate black tuxedo, his face an impassioned mask of absolute power. But all eyes were instantly drawn to the woman walking beside him.

Myra wore a breathtaking floor-length crimson gown that hugged her curves like liquid fire, a diamond-encrusted choker sparkling around her throat—a family heirloom passed down through generations of Casaro matriarchs. She walked with absolute grace, her head held high, her eyes scanning the sea of hardened criminals who had once laughed at her expense.

Every single mob boss, killer, and syndicate leader in the room instinctively lowered their gaze as she passed. The power dynamic of the entire East Coast had shifted permanently.

Leo led her up the marble dais to the raised mahogany throne chairs at the front of the ballroom. He turned to face the assembly, his deep, resonant voice carrying effortlessly across the silent room.

“Gentlemen,” Leo began, his eyes sweeping over the crowd. “For decades, this family has ruled through fear, blood, and tradition. But empires do not survive by standing still. They survive by adapting. Tonight, I introduce to you the new co-ruler of the Casaro syndicate.”

Leo turned his head, looking directly at Myra with a gaze full of fierce, unyielding respect.

“Myra Casaro.”

A collective intake of breath echoed through the ballroom. The use of the family surname was the ultimate seal of approval. She wasn't just a partner anymore; she was royalty.

Myra stepped forward to the edge of the dais, looking out at the hundreds of men who controlled the underworld. Her voice was steady, clear, and ice-cold, cutting through the vast hall like a blade.

“The old rules are dead,” Myra announced, her eyes locking onto every single capo in the room. “Anyone who crosses this family will not just be buried—they will be erased. We move forward together. Or we burn together.”

A heavy, reverent silence hung in the air for three agonizing seconds before the head capo of the New York chapter slammed his fist against his chest and shouted, “Long live the Queen!”

Instantly, the entire ballroom erupted into roaring applause and cheers, bowing in unison to the woman who had risen from the ashes of betrayal.
