Chapter 5 - THE VAULT OF SECRETS

The air inside the underground tunnels beneath the Bello Shipping Docks smelled of salt, rust, and old oil. Amara walked side by side with Alexander, flanked by a dozen heavily armed guards.
They reached a massive, circular steel door built directly into the bedrock beneath the ocean level. In the center was a sleek, modern biometric scanner—a stark contrast to the decaying surrounding structures.
"This is it," Alexander said. "The Bratva, the Triads, the Juarez cartel... they’ve been looking for this for two decades. Whoever controls this data controls the global underworld."
Amara looked at the scanner. "If I do this, it's over? The debt is paid? My family is safe?"
"Yes," Alexander said. "And you will be free to leave me, if that is what you want."
Amara felt a pang of conflicting emotions. He had manipulated her life, yes, but he had also built an impenetrable fortress around her. He had destroyed the Vale empire just because Sterling had humiliated her. Was it truly just business to him?
She stepped up to the console. A small needle pricked her index finger. A drop of deep red blood fell into the receptor.
The system whirred to life. Blue lights cascaded across the steel door.
“DNA MATCH CONFIRMED: AMARA BELLO.”
But instead of the heavy clanking of locks opening, a flashing red light filled the tunnel. A computerized voice echoed:
“WARNING: PRIMARY DATA CORE ALREADY ACCESSED AND DOWNLOADED. TERMINAL PURGE INITIATED. TIME REMAINING: 5 MINUTES.”
Alexander’s eyes widened. "Impossible. Only your bloodline could open it."
"Unless," a voice echoed from the shadows behind them, "someone else had her blood."

From the darkness stepped a woman dressed in tactical gear, holding a remote detonator. Amara gasped.
It was her mother, Evelyn Bello—the woman who supposedly died in a car crash ten years ago.
