Chapter 2 - THE MIDNIGHT AUDITThe heavy mahogany front doors swung open before Marcus Vance could even raise his hand to knock. He stepped into the foyer with the confident stride of a predator entering an enclosure of helpless prey. Behind him walked two junior associates, each carrying thick, accordion folders labeled with confidential red seals.

Victoria’s jaw dropped, her aristocratic composure cracking for the first time. "What is the meaning of this? Who let you past the security gates?" she shrieked, pointing a trembling, diamond-ringed finger at Marcus.

Marcus didn’t even glance at her. His cold, piercing eyes locked directly onto Richard, who had suddenly gone pale under his tailored Italian suit.

"Richard Sterling," Marcus’s voice boomed through the high-ceilinged hall, rich and commanding. "My name is Marcus Vance. I represent your wife, Elena Sterling. And before you even think about calling your corporate security team, I suggest you look at what is currently happening to your primary accounts."

Richard’s phone buzzed violently in his pocket. Then it buzzed again. Within seconds, a symphony of notification chimes echoed from the pockets of Victoria and Brooke as well. Richard pulled out his phone, his eyes widening in sheer terror as he stared at the screen.

"My... my corporate portfolio," Richard stammered, his voice cracking. "All my liquid assets... they’re frozen. The offshore accounts are locked. How is this possible?!"

I finally broke my silence, my voice dropping an octave, ringing out with a terrifying, crystal-clear authority that made everyone in the room flinch.

"You thought my decade of being a dutiful, stay-at-home mother meant I was blind, Richard?" I stepped forward, pulling Leo gently behind my protective stance. "For the past six months, while you were busy playing high-stakes corporate games and funding your sister’s lavish lifestyle with marital funds, I was quietly documenting every single illegal transaction, every offshore tax shelter, and every penny of corporate embezzlement you tried to hide under the Sterling Holdings umbrella."

Marcus flipped open the top folder, pulling out a thick sheaf of paper stamped with federal court seals. "This isn't just a standard divorce filing, Richard. This is a total asset liquidation, backed by ironclad proof of financial fraud, tax evasion, and deliberate asset dissipation during a marriage. Every single property, every vehicle, every share of stock, and this very estate—it’s all subject to immediate court-ordered seizure."

Brooke shrieked, clutching her designer handbag as if it were about to evaporate. "Mom! Do something! Make him stop her! She’s a nobody without us!"

"She was a nobody," Marcus replied smoothly, turning his gaze to Brooke with a predatory grin. "As of three minutes ago, by court order, Elena Sterling is the primary creditor holding the debt on every single asset your family owns. In short, my client doesn't just want a divorce. She owns you."
