Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Checkmate"What is the meaning of this insolence?" the lead board member, a gray-haired corporate veteran named Henderson-Smythe, stammered, adjusting his glasses as he looked at the papers. "Who is this child? And what does this have to do with the corporate restructuring vote?"

"Allow me to introduce," Ethan said, leaning back in his chair with a cold, predatory smile, "my legally recognized wife, Dr. Maya Bennett-Caldwell, and my biological daughter and primary heiress to the Caldwell trust, Ava Bennett-Caldwell."
A collective gasp swept through the boardroom. Whispers erupted from every corner.
"This is an outrage!" Eleanor shrieked, slamming her palms onto the table, her porcelain composure completely shattering. "A sham! They staged this! That child isn't—"
"DNA test results certified by Lakeshore Medical Center, stamped and signed by the Chief of Pathology less than three hours ago," Maya interrupted, sliding a sealed envelope across the table directly to the lead attorney. "Match probability: 99.999%."
The attorney hastily opened the file, scanned the summary, and looked up at the board with wide eyes. "Gentlemen... under the terms of the founder’s original 1984 charter, the CEO position is fully protected from board termination upon the production of a direct biological heir, provided the marriage and lineage are formally registered before the CEO's thirty-fifth birthday—which happens to be today at midnight."
Ethan checked his watch, smiling lazily. "And as the majority voting shareholder—thanks to the dual-class share structure activated upon family consolidation—I hereby vote to dissolve the current board advisory committee, effective immediately."
Eleanor stared at her son, her chest heaving, the realization of complete and utter defeat finally settling over her. She had tried to destroy Maya eight years ago to protect her dynasty, and that exact cruelty had just handed the entire empire to the woman she despised most.

"You'll ruin us," Eleanor whispered, her voice cracking.
"No, Mother," Ethan said, standing up and pulling Maya close against his side, his arm wrapping firmly around her waist. "I’m just finally cleaning house."
