Chapter 7 - The Italian NightThe kiss wasn't gentle. It was desperate, fierce, and consuming—a collision of two worlds that had no business ever crossing paths. His lips were warm and firm, tasting faintly of espresso and danger. For a second, every warning bell in my head screamed at me to pull away, to remember who he was, what he did, the blood that stained the very floors of this villa.

Instead, my hands curled into the fabric of his white shirt, pulling him closer, melting into the heat of him as all my defenses dissolved into ash.
When he finally pulled back, breathing heavily, his dark eyes were burning with a hunger that terrified and thrilled me in equal measure.
"Stay," he whispered against my lips, his thumb brushing my cheekbone. "Stay here, in Tuscany. Not as a guest, not as a hostage. Stay with me."
"Alessandro... I can't," I breathed, though my voice lacked any real conviction. "My life is in New York. My job, my apartment, my entire existence is back there."
"Your life in New York was lonely," he countered instantly, his tone uncompromising. "You were working yourself to the bone in a noisy café, dreaming of Florence while the world passed you by. Here, you have everything you could ever want. Protection, passion, a family who already loves you."
He grabbed my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine, and led me out of the bloody grand hall toward the private living quarters of the estate.
The master suite was a breathtaking blend of Renaissance luxury and modern comfort—floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the misty Tuscan hills, a king-sized bed draped in silk, and a massive stone fireplace crackling with life.
That night, the mafia boss vanished entirely, leaving only a man who poured his soul into every touch, every whispered word of Italian against my skin. It was intoxicating, a reckless surrender to a passion I never knew existed within me.
