Chapter 1 - The First ThreadThe notification chime on Olivia’s phone didn't ring out; it gave a sharp, clinical little ping that felt entirely too polite for a grenade.

Another message from Sophia.

“He was tired of pretending, Liv. We both tried to spare you, but some things just can’t stay hidden forever. He's mine now.”

Olivia stared at the text bubbles glowing against the dark screen. For eight years, Sophia had played the role of the devoted best friend—the one who listened to Olivia complain about late-night server crashes, brought takeout during deployment crunches, and casually asked how Daniel’s career was progressing.

They had met during a cybersecurity firm startup phase. Sophia was supposed to be the brilliant, creative strategist; Olivia was the architect behind the network's code.

Or so Olivia had thought.

With slow, deliberate movements, Olivia placed her phone face down on the oak desk. She didn't cry. She didn't throw her blue ceramic mug against the wall. A woman who spent her days tracking malware and dismantling advanced persistent threats knew that panic was a luxury data-recovery experts couldn't afford.

If Sophia wanted a war, she had just handed Olivia root access.
