CHAPTER 2 – The Locker Nobody Claimed

The next morning, Ethan followed the tiny clue hidden behind the tag.

Inside the folded paper was only one line:

Bus Station. Locker 317. Bring Noah.

Every instinct told him it was a trap.

But desperation defeated fear.

The old bus terminal looked abandoned.

Dust covered the lockers.

Most had been sealed for years.

Locker 317 still waited.

The rusty key fit perfectly.

The lock clicked open.

Inside wasn't money.

It wasn't jewelry.

It wasn't gold.

It was an old leather journal...

A videotape...

And a sealed envelope addressed to Noah.

Ethan opened the journal first.

Every page was written by his father.

Page after page described how he had secretly built an invention capable of changing an entire industry.

The technology had later been stolen by his own business partner.

The same man who eventually became billionaire CEO Richard Halston.

Ethan's hands began shaking.

He knew that name.

Richard Halston had owned the very company that fired him.

Then he opened the envelope.

Inside was a legal document proving Noah—not Richard's children—was the rightful heir to a trust fund worth nearly $120 million.

The videotape explained everything.

Ethan's father had faked his disappearance after receiving death threats.

He had spent decades hiding evidence, waiting until the only innocent bloodline left—Noah—was old enough to survive the truth.

Just as Ethan looked up...

Three black SUVs pulled into the parking lot.

Men in expensive suits stepped out.

One smiled coldly.

"We've been searching for that locker for twenty-three years."

Another man slowly reached inside his jacket.

"But now... we'll take everything."

Ethan grabbed Noah's hand.

Because he finally realized...

The overdue bills had never been the real danger.

The inheritance was.
