CHAPTER 1 — The Woman Everyone Wanted to See Destroyed

The roar of hundreds of prisoners echoed across the cracked concrete yard.

"Rex! Rex! Rex!"

The chant shook the rusted fences as inmates climbed benches, railings, even broken exercise equipment just to witness another illegal fight.

Saturday had become more important than any holiday inside Blackridge Federal Prison.

It was the only day when prisoners forgot their sentences.

Only violence mattered.

Only survival mattered.

Only Marcus made the rules.

For five years, Marcus had transformed the abandoned sports yard into an underground empire.

Nothing happened without his approval.

Drugs.

Cigarettes.

Protection.

Gambling.

Even revenge.

Every fight earned him thousands of dollars transferred through relatives outside the prison walls.

The correctional officers pretended not to notice.

Because every Saturday, thick envelopes quietly changed hands.

The arena belonged to Marcus.

Until Kate arrived.

She walked through the prison gates wearing oversized prison clothes that looked almost too large for her thin body.

She never raised her voice.

Never complained.

Never looked anyone directly in the eyes.

She spent most of her time reading old books in the library or sitting alone during meals.

To everyone else...

She looked frightened.

Weak.

Broken.

Exactly the kind of prisoner predators loved.

Marcus watched her for less than twenty-four hours before smiling.

"Perfect."

His lieutenant frowned.

"For what?"

Marcus leaned back.

"People always bet bigger when they think the outcome is obvious."

He pointed toward Kate.

"She's my jackpot."

Within hours, rumors spread across every prison block.

The quiet girl would fight Rex.

The strongest inmate in the prison.

The man who had broken three opponents' ribs during previous matches.

The man nobody had ever knocked down.

Bets exploded.

Some prisoners wagered entire commissary accounts.

Others offered expensive watches hidden from searches.

One inmate even gambled the ownership of an illegal cell phone worth several thousand dollars.

Marcus accepted every single bet.

Because everyone picked Rex.

Everyone.

Except one old inmate named Harold.

Harold had spent thirty-two years in prison.

He rarely spoke.

But when Kate walked across the yard that morning...

He stopped eating.

His hands began trembling.

One younger inmate laughed.

"What?"

Harold never answered.

He simply whispered something almost impossible to hear.

"I've seen those eyes before..."

Meanwhile...

Kate quietly folded her prison blanket inside her temporary cell.

The guard assigned to escort her paused outside.

"You know you can refuse."

Kate looked up calmly.

"No."

"They'll kill you."

"They'll try."

The guard stared at her.

There was something unsettling about her voice.

Not confidence.

Certainty.

Like someone discussing tomorrow's weather.

Not a fight.

When the guard left...

Kate reached beneath her mattress.

Hidden inside was a tiny folded newspaper clipping she had somehow managed to keep.

The article showed dozens of police vehicles.

Military officers.

Smoke.

A destroyed warehouse.

One headline.

"OPERATION BLACK FALCON ENDS INTERNATIONAL CRIME SYNDICATE."

Someone had drawn a black line through one photograph.

A woman wearing tactical combat gear.

Her face wasn't completely visible.

Only her eyes.

The same cold eyes Kate still carried.

She folded the clipping again.

Then whispered...

"Just three more days."

Outside...

Marcus was already counting his future money.

He had no idea...

May you like

He wasn't organizing an execution.

He was waking up the most dangerous woman ever to walk into his prison.
