CHAPTER 2 — "One Move Changed Everything"

Time seemed to stop.
Victor's enormous hands clenched the front of David's uniform.
The yard became completely silent.
Every inmate expected the same ending.
The guard would panic.
Swing wildly.
Get overpowered.
Become another broken officer everyone would laugh about for years.
Victor leaned forward with a cruel smile.
"Now what?"
"You finally going to fight?"
David looked directly into his eyes.
For the first time...
He spoke.
His voice was calm.
"You've made your choice."
Victor laughed.
"So have you."
He pulled David even closer.
That was his biggest mistake.
In less than a second...
David moved.
No dramatic punch.
No furious scream.
No unnecessary violence.
His body shifted only a few inches.
One hand trapped Victor's wrist.
The other rotated his shoulder with surgical precision.
A quick step.
A controlled turn.
Then—
BANG!
The six-foot-five prison king crashed face-first onto the concrete.
The impact echoed across the entire yard.
Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
Victor tried to stand.
He couldn't.
Before anyone understood what had happened, David had already secured Victor's arm behind his back using a restraint technique so clean and effortless that it looked almost unreal.
The giant inmate struggled.
Nothing happened.
He tried again.
Still nothing.
Every movement only tightened the hold.
For the first time in years...
Victor Carter looked helpless.
Gasps spread across the yard.
Several veteran guards stared in disbelief.
"How...?"
"I've never seen anyone control Victor like that."
Even Officer Reynolds forgot to blink.
David never raised his voice.
"I asked you several times to let go."
"You refused."
"I used the minimum force necessary."
Victor's face turned red with rage.
"You got lucky."
David calmly replied,
"No."
"I stayed patient."
Two officers rushed over to apply handcuffs.
Victor unexpectedly shouted,
"Don't touch me!"
He glared at David with burning hatred.
"Who are you?"
The yard waited for the answer.
David slowly released the restraint and stepped back.
"I was hoping nobody would ask."
Officer Reynolds looked completely confused.
"What does that mean?"
The prison warden, who had been watching through the security cameras, suddenly appeared on the balcony overlooking the yard.
His expression wasn't angry.
It was shocked.
He walked downstairs himself—something he never did.
Every inmate watched in silence.
The warden stopped directly in front of David.
Then...
To everyone's astonishment...
He saluted him.
A prison warden...
Saluting an ordinary correctional officer.
Whispers erupted everywhere.
Victor frowned.
"What is this?"
The warden finally spoke loudly enough for the entire yard to hear.
"You fools think he's just a new guard."
"He spent twelve years training correctional officers and tactical response teams across the country."
"He has ended hostage situations."
"Negotiated prison riots."
"And taught defensive tactics to the very people who trained us."
The entire yard fell into stunned silence.
Victor's confidence disappeared for the first time.
David sighed quietly.
"I didn't come here to prove I was stronger."
"I came because this prison has forgotten the difference between fear... and respect."
Not a single inmate laughed anymore.
Victor slowly stood, rubbing his injured shoulder.
For the first time in decades...
He lowered his eyes.
But David had already noticed something nobody else had.
Victor hadn't attacked because he wanted a fight.
He attacked because he wanted to test whether anyone in that prison truly deserved respect.
David looked at him one last time.
"This isn't over."
Victor frowned.
"What do you mean?"
David answered with a calm expression.
"The hardest battle you'll ever fight..."
"...won't be against me."
"It'll be against the man you've become."
The yard remained silent long after both men walked away.
No one realized that this confrontation was only the beginning.
Because hidden deep inside Blackridge Prison was a corruption scandal that reached far beyond the inmates...
May you like
...and Victor Carter would soon have to decide whether to protect the criminal empire he ruled—
—or risk everything by standing beside the one guard he had tried to destroy.
