CHAPTER 5 — "The Secret Hidden Beneath Blackridge Prison"

The hallway fell eerily silent.

The young correctional officer's body lay motionless on the cold concrete, blood slowly spreading beneath him.

No one dared move.

Even the most violent inmates had stopped fighting.

David crouched beside the fallen officer, searching desperately for a pulse.

Nothing.

He slowly closed the officer's eyes.

"He was executed," David said quietly.

Victor looked toward the administration building.

"That shot came from inside."

David nodded.

"Someone doesn't want witnesses."

Before anyone could react, the prison loudspeakers crackled to life.

Deputy Warden Richard Hale's calm voice echoed through every block.

"Attention all staff."

"A full-scale inmate uprising is in progress."

"Use lethal force if necessary."

The guards exchanged confused looks.

"Lethal force?"

"We've never been authorized to shoot inmates during a disturbance."

David's expression darkened.

"This isn't an emergency order..."

"It's an excuse."

At that moment, automatic steel security doors slammed shut throughout the prison.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Every exit locked.

Every escape route vanished.

The prisoners were trapped.

The guards were trapped.

Everyone inside Blackridge had become prey.

Victor turned toward David.

"They're locking us in."

"They're planning to clean house."

David pulled a folded blueprint from inside his vest.

Victor frowned.

"You knew something was wrong before you came here."

David finally revealed the truth.

"I wasn't transferred."

"I volunteered."

"For the last eighteen months, federal investigators have been tracking inmates who disappeared after being officially transferred."

"No records."

"No families notified."

"No bodies."

Victor's face slowly hardened.

"I know where they went."

David looked at him.

Victor hesitated.

Then spoke words he had buried for years.

"There's a hidden level beneath Blackridge."

"A place even most guards don't know exists."

"They take prisoners there..."

"...and they never come back."

Before David could respond, the floor beneath them vibrated violently.

Somewhere below...

A massive steel door was opening.

May you like

The secret Blackridge had hidden for decades...

Was finally coming to life.
