Chapter 5 - The Queen of Passeig de Gràcia

Three thousand miles away, the morning sun washed over the grand terrace of the Passeig de Gràcia penthouse in Barcelona.

Elena Salazar stood wearing a flowing white linen dress, a cup of freshly brewed espresso in hand, watching her children play near the rooftop infinity pool. Noah was laughing as he chased a mechanical toy boat across the water, while Lily sat with a local art tutor, sketching the intricate balconies of the surrounding Catalan architecture.

Life had transformed from a cage of quiet desperation into an expansive, vibrant masterpiece.

The doorbell chimed softly.

Elena walked through the sunlit living room to answer it. Standing in the doorway was Marcus Dawson, looking effortlessly sharp in a tailored charcoal suit, holding a leather briefcase and a box of artisan pastries from a famous local bakery.

"Good morning, Your Majesty," Marcus smiled, stepping inside and placing the pastries on the kitchen island.

"Good morning, Marcus," Elena laughed, setting her espresso down. "Please tell me you brought good news and not more paperwork. I'm still getting used to not having to sign my life away every five minutes."

Marcus pulled a thick legal document from his briefcase and laid it flat on the marble counter.

"Consider this the final stroke of the brush, Elena. The New York courts have officially finalized the corporate restructuring of Castillo Holdings. The board voted unanimously to rename the entity Salazar International Real Estate, and your majority shares are fully locked in offshore trusts protected against any counter-litigation."

Elena traced her fingers over the embossed corporate seal. For ten years, she had been told she had no head for business, no instinct for finance, and no value outside of keeping house for a man who despised her. Now, she controlled an international real estate portfolio worth over nine figures.

"And Adrian?" Elena asked softly, her gaze steady.

Marcus crossed his arms, leaning back against the counter with a satisfied grin.

"Adrian is currently facing eviction from his luxury townhouse because his personal credit cards were maxed out and linked to the frozen corporate accounts. Margaret and Vanessa have fled to Miami to stay with distant relatives because their social circle has completely ostracized them after the paternity scandal leaked to the financial press."

"And Chloe?"

"Chloe tried to sue Julian Vance for financial support," Marcus chuckled. "Julian laughed in her face, revoked her lease on the prenatal apartment, and skipped the country on a business trip to Zurich. She’s currently staying in a modest motel in Queens, trying to figure out how to raise a child with no money and no allies."

Elena looked out the window toward the sunlit streets of Barcelona, watching the cheerful pedestrians walk by. There was no anger left in her heart—only a profound, unshakeable peace. The ghosts of her past marriage had been completely exorcised, replaced by the brilliant reality of her own strength.

"They built a dynasty on sand, Marcus," Elena said quietly. "And the tide finally came in."
