Chapter 10 - The Final LedgerGrant stared at Evelyn, the last remnants of his arrogant pride finally shattering into dust. He sank slowly down until he was sitting on the bare floorboards, his face buried in his hands, his shoulders shaking with silent, bitter defeat.

Evelyn looked down at him for a long moment. She didn't offer him a hand up. She didn't offer words of comfort. Some bridges aren't meant to be rebuilt; they are meant to be crossed, leaving the ashes behind.

She turned on her heel and walked toward the private elevator.

As she pressed the call button, the doors slid open instantly, welcoming her with a soft, bright interior light.

Evelyn stepped inside, turning back one last time to look at the man who had tried to destroy her.

"Goodbye, Grant," she said softly.

The elevator doors closed smoothly, sealing away the past, the betrayal, and the cold Chicago storm forever.

Downstairs, the Maybach was waiting. As Evelyn slid into the plush leather seat, Martin handed her a fresh portfolio detailing the global expansion of Hart & Associates.
