Chapter 10 - RECKONING AND REBIRTHTime seemed to slow down to a crawl.

As Victor raised the knife to strike Clara, Elena screamed in primal terror, instinctively lunging forward. But Marco was already moving with terrifying, predatory speed.
Before Victor’s blade could descend, Marco closed the distance across the concrete floor like a striking panther. He slammed his shoulder directly into Victor’s chest with brutal force, sending the older man flying backward off his feet.
The knife slipped from Victor’s hand, clattering harmlessly against the concrete. Victor hit the ground hard, the wind knocked out of him in a violent gasp.
Before Victor could recover, Marco stood over him, grabbing him by the collar of his expensive cashmere coat and hauling him up to his feet. With one swift, decisive punch, Marco struck Victor square in the jaw. Victor crumpled back onto the floor, unconscious, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Silence descended upon the hangar, save for the low rumble of the SUV engines and Clara’s hysterical, shuddering sobs.
Elena rushed past Marco, dropping to her knees beside her sister. With trembling fingers, she ripped the duct tape off Clara’s mouth and began untying the ropes binding her to the chair.
"Clara! Clara, are you okay?" Elena cried, pulling her sister into a tight, protective embrace.
Clara buried her face in Elena’s shoulder, weeping uncontrollably, her entire body shaking. "I'm so sorry, Elena... I'm so sorry! They threatened to kill me, they owned my debts, I didn't want to ruin your life, I swear..."
"Shh, it's okay. You're safe now. It's over," Elena whispered, though the emotional weight of her sister’s betrayal hung heavy and complicated between them. She knew the road to forgiveness would be long, but tonight, survival mattered most.
David stepped forward, clicking a pair of heavy steel handcuffs onto the unconscious Victor Vance before hauling him up by his arms and dragging him toward one of the waiting SUVs.
"Secure the perimeter, clean up the scene, and hand Vance over to federal custody," Marco commanded, his voice ice-cold and absolute.
"Yes, sir," David replied crisply, loading the prisoner into the back of the vehicle.
Marco walked slowly over to where Elena was helping Clara to her feet. He reached down, picking up the small silver flash drive that had fallen from Victor’s pocket during the scuffle. He slipped it into his jacket pocket, then knelt down in front of Elena, his striking amber eyes softening as he looked into her face.
He reached out, his warm, calloused hand gently cupping her cheek, wiping away a stray tear with his thumb.
"Are you alright?" Marco asked softly, his voice full of a tender, enduring devotion that had survived three years of hell.
Elena looked up into the eyes of the man she had loved, hated, doubted, and rediscovered. The lies, the conspiracy, and the darkness that had torn their family apart were finally stripped away, leaving only the raw, unbreakable truth of their bond.
She leaned into his touch, a gentle, bittersweet smile finally breaking through her exhaustion.
"I am now," Elena whispered.
An hour later, the private jet was once again airborne, cruising smoothly through the clear skies above the clouds, heading back toward the safety of the Virginia estate.
In the back cabin, Leo and Lily were sound asleep in each other's arms, resting peacefully.
Elena sat in the plush leather seat beside Marco, resting her head comfortably against his broad shoulder. Marco wrapped his strong arm securely around her waist, pulling her close, while his other hand held the silver flash drive—the final piece of a nightmare left far behind.

They had lost three years to a wicked lie. They had walked through fire, bullets, and betrayal. But as the first golden rays of dawn began to break over the horizon, illuminating a brilliant, beautiful new morning, Elena knew one thing with absolute certainty:
Their story wasn't ending. It was only just beginning.
