Chapter 10 - Sunrise Over the EmpireThe courtroom was packed to capacity. Flashbulbs strobed outside as federal marshals led Julian Vance into the dock. He wore an orange jumpsuit, his wrists and ankles chained. His posture was broken, his eyes fixed on the linoleum floor as he walked past the press gallery.

The federal judge adjusted his glasses, reviewing the final sentencing memorandum.
"Julian Vance," the judge’s voice echoed solemnly through the silent courtroom. "You have been found guilty on all counts of corporate fraud, asset misappropriation, interstate racketeering, and falsification of generational trust documents. Given the staggering scale of your deception and the calculated abuse of fiduciary privilege, this court sentences you to twenty-two years in federal penitentiary without the possibility of parole."
The gavel came down with a sharp, definitive crack. Thud.
Julian closed his eyes, the sound reverberating through his skull like a death knell. He had wanted an empire. He had wanted to rule the world, to feel invincible, to throw people aside like discarded toys.
And now, his entire world had shrunk to a concrete cell four paces wide.
Thousands of miles away, standing on the sunlit balcony of the penthouse overlooking the endless blue ocean, Elena raised a glass of sparkling water to toast the morning sun.
