Chapter 10 - Forever HomeNight fell over the Westchester estate, wrapping the grand manor in a blanket of peaceful serenity. Inside the master nursery, the lights were dimmed to a soft, warm amber glow.

Annie lay fast asleep in her custom-built four-poster bed, hugging Aleandro’s oversized black wool coat like a treasured talisman. Her breathing was deep, even, and completely untouhced by the cold, harsh world outside.
Aleandro sat in a plush armchair beside the bed, a soft leather-bound book resting open on his lap. He reached out, gently pulling the blanket up over her shoulders, watching the rise and fall of her chest with a sense of profound peace he had never known was possible.
He had spent his entire life believing that power came from the barrel of a gun, from millions in hidden accounts, and from enemies lying broken at his feet. But as he looked at the tiny girl sleeping peacefully in front of him, he finally understood the true definition of power.
Power wasn't about what you could destroy.
It was about what you loved enough to save.
The door creaked open slightly, and Ruth Bennett stepped into the room, leaning lightly on a polished wooden cane, looking stronger and healthier than she had in years. She smiled warmly at Aleandro.
"Is she asleep?" Ruth whispered.
"Like an angel," Aleandro replied softly, standing up and stretching his broad shoulders.
Ruth walked over to the bedside, brushing a soft curl away from Annie’s forehead before looking up at Aleandro with tears of gratitude shimmering in her eyes. "Thank you, Aleandro. For everything."
"You don't need to thank me, Ruth," Aleandro said quietly, placing a comforting hand on the older woman's shoulder. "This is our family now. And no one will ever take that away from us again."

With one final, lingering look at his daughter, Aleandro turned and walked out of the room, closing the door softly behind him.
Outside, the stars shone brilliantly across the vast, clear night sky—a sky that finally felt like home.
