Chapter 7 - Dawn Over BrooklynBy 4:00 AM, the rain had finally begun to clear, leaving behind a crisp, washed-air morning that heralded the dawn of a brand-new day.

An advanced medical transport team, personally dispatched by Aleandro’s private physician network, had quietly arrived at Walnut Street apartment seven. Ruth Bennett was resting comfortably on a stretcher, receiving professional oxygen and intravenous care. Her breathing, for the first time in months, was steady and deep.

Standing beside her bed was Aleandro, holding a small suitcase packed with Annie’s belongings. Little Annie herself was wrapped in a warm, plush cashmere blanket, fast asleep in Marcus’s strong, protective arms.

Ruth opened her eyes slowly, looking up at the formidable crime lord who had transformed from a feared predator into a deeply protective father figure overnight.

"You're moving us?" Ruth asked hoarsely, her voice carrying a mixture of caution and profound relief.

"You're moving into the Castellano estate in Westchester," Aleandro replied firmly, leaving no room for argument. "There is a private medical wing being set up for you right now, staffed by the best specialists in the country. You will never have to worry about rent, medicine, or cold winters ever again."

Ruth looked over at Annie, who stirred slightly in Marcus's arms, murmuring something unintelligible before snuggling deeper into the blanket. A soft, genuine smile finally touched the old woman's face.

"She has your eyes, you know," Ruth whispered, her voice cracking slightly with emotion. "I tried to hide her from your world, Aleandro... but I realize now that her place has always been with her father."

Aleandro nodded slowly, the hard edges of his legendary ruthlessness melting away completely when he looked at his daughter. "She will never know fear, Mrs. Bennett. And neither will you. From this day forward, anyone who dares to look at my family the wrong way will answer to me."
