Chapter 6 - The Fall of the SyndicateThe neon lights of downtown Manhattan blurred through the rain as a convoy of black SUVs tore through the night like a pack of wolves closing in on wounded prey. Inside the lead vehicle, Aleandro Castellano sat in stone-cold silence, his fingers steepened together, resting against his lips. Across from him sat Marcus, reviewing encrypted tactical layouts on a rugged tablet.

"Moretti’s primary shipping hub at Pier 44 is completely surrounded," Marcus reported. "Our men breached the perimeter ten minutes ago. Resistance was minimal; most of his guards surrendered the moment they heard your name."
"And Moretti?" Aleandro asked, his voice chillingly calm.
"Cornered in his private office on the top floor of the main warehouse," Marcus replied.
Twenty minutes later, the heavy iron doors of Pier 44 echoed with the sounds of boots hitting concrete. Aleandro walked through the compound like an angel of death. Syndicate guards dropped their weapons and stepped back, terrified to even make eye contact with the most powerful man in the underworld.
Marcus kicked open the door to Moretti’s office.
Salvatore Moretti sat behind a massive oak desk, a glass of scotch trembling in his hand, a heavy revolver resting right beside it. When Aleandro walked into the room, Moretti forced a desperate, mocking smile.
"Well, well. If it isn't the king of New York," Moretti laughed nervously, though his eyes darted frantically toward the window. "Coming here to kill me over some old ghost? You think destroying my docks will bring Sophia back?"
Aleandro walked slowly toward the desk, placing both hands on its polished surface, leaning in close until their eyes met.
"No, Salvatore," Aleandro whispered, his voice dangerously soft. "Killing you won't bring Sophia back. But it will give me immense satisfaction knowing that the man who lied to me, who tore my family apart, and who tried to harm my three-year-old daughter spent his final moments realizing that he never stood a chance against me."
Moretti lunged for the revolver on the desk, but Marcus was faster. With a brutal sweep of his arm, Marcus slammed Moretti’s hand against the wood, sending the gun clattering across the floor. Marcus pinned Moretti down by the shoulders, pressing his face hard against the desk.

"You're a dead man, Castellano!" Moretti screamed, spittle flying from his lips. "Your whole empire is built on blood! The board will turn on you!"
"The board answers to me," Aleandro said straightening his jacket. He looked down at Moretti with utter disdain. "Marcus, take him to the basement. Make sure he confesses to every single lie, every single betrayal, and every document he forged against Sophia. When he's done talking... make sure he disappears."
