Chapter 6 - THE FALSE DAUGHTERA quiet laugh echoed from the shadowy corner of the lab.

We swung our weapons around. Standing next to an open control panel was the six-year-old girl holding her stuffed rabbit.
Except she wasn't crying anymore. Her eyes held an intelligence and coldness that no child could ever possess.
"You took too long to figure it out, Chief Vance," she said, her voice dropping its high-pitched childish cadence, replacing it with a flat, dual-layered tone.
"What did you do with my daughter?!" Mark screamed, lunging forward.
Jenkins caught him just in time.
"The real Lily died the night the toxin leaked into our ventilation," the entity replied calmly, turning the rabbit around. She pulled a seam on the toy, revealing a glowing red digital timer ticking down from 01:45. "We preserved her memories. Her voice. Her fear. It makes human law enforcement so... predictable."

"A quarantine sweep," the entity smiled. "We needed a full tactical team to cluster at this coordinate so we could release the secondary agent through your command vehicles."
