The mansion, my father’s legacy, was officially cleared of all fraudulent liens and returned fully to my name.
Caled and I sat on the back patio, drinking hot coffee under the golden autumn sunlight. The air smelled crisp, clean, and entirely free of deceit.
"You know, Mom," Caleb said, smiling as he set his mug down on the glass table. "Grandpa would have been immensely proud of you."
"He taught me how to build things, Caleb," I said, looking out over the sprawling green lawn and the towering oaks my father had planted decades ago. "And sometimes, to protect what you've built, you have to tear down the rot at the foundation."
My phone buzzed on the table. It was an automated notification from the bank confirming that all transferred trust funds had been fully restored, alongside a formal message from Detective Vance confirming that Julian’s trial would be held without bail due to extreme flight risk.
