CHAPTER 4 — "The Waitress Wasn't Investigating the Sheikh... She Was Deciding His Future."

The restaurant became so quiet that even the musicians stopped playing.

Kareem stared at his assistant.

"What meeting?"

The assistant swallowed hard.

"The council received a formal report this morning."

"What report?"

"The report about your treatment of employees... foreign workers... and charitable obligations."

The sheikh's confidence began to crack.

"Who filed it?"

The assistant hesitated.

"We don't know."

Emma slowly picked up her coat.

"You already know."

Every eye turned toward her.

Kareem laughed bitterly.

"So this was all planned."

Emma looked disappointed rather than angry.

"No."

"The investigation began six months ago."

His smile disappeared.

"What investigation?"

"The foundation received dozens of complaints from people who worked for companies connected to your business group."

Several partners instantly stepped away from the table.

One quietly removed his company badge.

Another refused to meet Kareem's eyes.

Emma continued.

"We never judge people based on rumors."

"So I visited your hotels."

"Your offices."

"Your restaurants."

"Sometimes as a customer."

"Sometimes as a volunteer."

"And sometimes..."

She held up the folded apron.

"...as a waitress."

The room exploded with whispers.

She hadn't been pretending for one evening.

She had spent months quietly observing how powerful people treated those they believed were beneath them.

The greatest test of character came when no one thought they were being watched.

Kareem suddenly understood.

Every cruel joke.

Every arrogant order.

Every insult.

Every moment had been documented.

His lawyer hurried inside the restaurant, holding a tablet.

"Sir..."

His voice shook.

"Our largest investors are calling."

"They're suspending negotiations."

Another phone rang.

Then another.

Then another.

Within minutes, business partners began quietly walking away from the table.

Nobody wanted to be seen beside him anymore.

Kareem finally looked at Emma.

"For one mistake..."

"You would destroy everything?"

Emma answered softly.

"No."

"You spent years building this outcome."

"I merely held up the mirror."

She turned toward the exit.

Just before leaving, she stopped without looking back.

"The Council will announce its decision tomorrow morning."

"If they remove your royal privileges..."

"...no amount of money will buy them back."

The restaurant doors closed behind her.

For the first time in decades...

May you like

The most powerful man in the room was completely alone.

And the next morning would reveal a truth that neither the sheikh nor the world was prepared to hear.
