Chapter 10 - The Secret RevealedForty-eight hours later, the storm had passed.

The federal prosecutor, grateful for his rescue, dropped the fabricated RICO charges against Dominic and launched an immediate internal corruption investigation into Vance and his associates. The Bridgeport clinic was gone, but in its place stood a sprawling, fully funded medical foundation in downtown Chicago, bearing Dr. Rachel Caruso’s name on the front doors.
Rachel stood on the private balcony of the Vale estate, watching the sunset bleed vibrant shades of gold and crimson across the Chicago skyline.
Footsteps approached behind her, followed by the familiar warmth of Dominic’s arms wrapping gently around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. His injured shoulder was wrapped beneath a crisp white shirt, but he moved with effortless strength.
"The board approved the trauma center expansion this morning," Dominic murmured into her hair, his breath warm against her neck. "You're officially the head of emergency surgery for the entire network."
Rachel leaned back against him, letting out a soft sigh of contentment. "You know, for a terrifying mafia boss, you're remarkably good at bureaucracy."
"I told you six years ago," Dominic whispered, turning her gently in his arms so she was facing him, his gray eyes shining with quiet devotion. "I get what I want. And for six years, all I wanted was to make sure the woman who saved my family's soul had a home that could never be burned down again."
Rachel smiled, reaching up to trace the sharp line of his jaw.
"And what if I decide to pack my bags and run away again?" she teased softly.

Dominic’s smile turned into a slow, confident grin as he pulled her flush against his chest, capturing her lips in a kiss that promised forever.
"I'll just have to find you all over again."
