Chapter 8 - The Aftermath of the StormAs Marcus was dragged away, shouting incoherent threats and curses into the snowy night air, the heavy silence returned to the Hale residence.

Julian stood near the fireplace, breathing heavily, running a hand through his dark hair. The adrenaline was slowly fading, leaving behind the stark reality of the room. He turned slowly and looked toward the table.

Jenna was still shielding Daisy, her chest heaving with shock and relief.

"It's over," Julian said softly, his voice losing its corporate edge, replaced by something much more vulnerable. "You're safe."

Jenna slowly lifted her head. She looked at the billionaire—not as a monster who destroyed her life, but as the man who had just dismantled the real villain. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over her lashes.

"Why?" Jenna whispered, her voice cracking. "After all this time... why help us?"

Julian walked over to the table, knelt down to eye level with little Daisy, who was peeking out from behind her mother’s coat, and gently reached out. He didn't touch her—he knew his hands were too scarred by the corporate world—but he offered a small, genuine smile.

"Because your daughter was right," Julian said, looking back up at Jenna. "This house was empty. And I think... I forgot what it meant to actually live."

He stood up, reached into his jacket, and pulled out a heavy black leather folder. He placed it gently on the edge of the table.
