Chapter 10 - NEW HORIZONSThe morning sun broke over the Manhattan skyline, painting the glass towers of Sterling Enterprises in a brilliant wash of gold and amber.

Inside the private alcove of Aurelia—the very same restaurant where betrayal had nearly ended his life months ago—Alexander Sterling sat at the corner table. The white roses were gone, replaced by simple, elegant orchids. The air smelled of fresh coffee and roasted espresso beans.
Across from him sat Maya, wearing her navy blazer, happily devouring a stack of chocolate-chip pancakes drenched in maple syrup.
The private elevator chimed, and Special Agent Miller walked over to their table, holding a thick manila folder. He looked tired, but victorious.
"It's done, Mr. Sterling," Miller said, sliding a final arrest warrant onto the table. "Julian Vance is in custody. All offshore accounts associated with the hostile takeover have been seized under federal asset forfeiture laws. Your empire is completely secure."
Alexander nodded, sipping his black coffee. "Thank you, Agent Miller. Pass along my regards to the prosecutor."
As Miller walked away, Alexander looked across the table at Maya, who was now expertly analyzing a set of financial spreadsheets on her tablet while chewing a mouthful of pancake.
"You know," Alexander said, a faint smile playing on his lips, "most twelve-year-olds are obsessed with video games or social media. You spend your free time dismantling international financial conspiracies."

Maya swallowed, looked up from her screen, and flashed a quick, confident grin. "Video games are too predictable, Alexander. Real life has much better plot twists."
Alexander chuckled, raising his coffee cup in a silent toast. The skyline outside glittered brightly, untouchable and alive. He had built an empire of stone and steel, but sitting across from him was the true foundation of his future—a survivor who had looked into the abyss, stared down the betrayal, and saved them both.
